It really works~ i'm in my mid 30's and i broke out crazy suddenly. nothing had worked but this acne gel has saved me. unlike proactive or some other acne treatments out there, this does not dry out nor irritate skin at all.

I had high hopes for this one. I am in the midst of the worst break out that I've ever had due to some medication that I have to take for my epilepsy. I've always had clear skin so this is really annoying. I've tried all the major remedies--including pro-active and they HURT! This stuff feels GREAT on zits. It literally soothes your skin, and takes itch and pain right out of the pimple. It's cooling and fabulous. It smells awful, but that fades away so I guess it's tolerable if you can handle funky smells. It's kinda like farm mixed with chemical or something. Since it felt so good on my face, I was really hoping that it would actually get rid of the zits too, but it did absolutely nothing, In fact- more kept coming. Perhaps it even caused some. I can't tell if it was just doing nothing or causing them. Once I switched to back to benzyl peroxide they tamed back down. bummer. I do gotta say I'll keep this on hand to dab on when a zit hurts though!

I really like this stuff. I have found that constant use leads to it not working as well. I think it is best used as a spot treatment for existing breakouts, rather than all over for prevention.

I'm a young adult (20s) with mild acne and sensitive skin but could never use products with benzoyl peroxide since I'd break out in itchy hives. Salycalic acid treatments were okay, but I'd have to be careful about not overdrying my skin with them and most of the time they wouldn't work. THIS DOES. The smell (as other readers have said) isn't great (like licorice + a farm) but it's not really strong, and after it dries it doesn't smell. I usually put this on at night so it doesn't even bother me. The ointment clears up zits pretty well-- If I feel a zit coming on (like one of those awful cyst-like ones under the skin), I make sure to put some of this on it and it keeps it from getting worse and makes it go away faster (2 days!). Doesn't help much with pores and I don't know how well it works with severe acne, but it worked for me. It does dry my skin a little, but not nearly as bad as other products. YAY! So glad I found this! Highly recommended.

After learning about how irritating and drying soaps and face lotions can be, I've switch to more natural products (MyChelle and Origins mostly) and with great success, but I was still getting 3-5 breakouts a month. I bought Nelson Acne Gel because it had all calming ingredients and no peroxides or acids. I was a little confused as to how it would work with "drying up" but I washed my face with water, use a non-alcohol toner and applied this gel before my moisturizer. Within 2 days my whole face cleared up, my pores shrunk, and I was less red (which I'm prone to.) My blemishes diminished with any dryness, flaking, peeling, or leaving a red after mark. Like the other reviews, the product does smell for all of two seconds AS you're applying. Afterward, I do not notice a smell at all (and I am very sensitive to the scents of products.) If you feel your acne is being caused by irritation and only further irritated by products, then I would highly recommend this gel.

I LOVE this product! I have tried almost everything within my budget and nothing really worked as well as this does! I have had inflamatory acne since I was 30.....that would be...15 years now. SIDE NOTE: If you are over 30 and have acne of any kind.....STOP consuming caffeine! I went cold turkey and it took about 6 weeks to purge my body of caffeine but I have had zero blemishes since I quit. I wash my face with African soap (all natural) at night and then use a salycilic astringent. After that I apply Nelson's Acne Gel over my entire face and leave it on over night. It is the most amazing product I have ever used. I tell everyone about it. The smell goes away as soon as it dries, but I don't happen to think it smells bad. If you haven't tried this, for the price it is sooooo worth a try.

I, like most people with adult acne, felt like I tried everything w/ no success. Most products for acne are just too harsh! This is different, and I hope you give it a try. I read the reviews on drugstore.com and gave it a shot, and it works! I've used it daily for months and I swear by it! It does smell pretty strong, but you get over it because it's worth it.

Stinks like a barn at the county fair, but boy does it work well! I have sensitive skin and it didn't cause any blotchiness, irritation or dryness as it cleared up my monthly skin issues. PS, the smell quickly dissipates and doesn't stay on pillows or I would definitely stop using it.

Sensitive Skin - BEWARE!!! I tried this after reading positive reviews about it. It broke my skin out in a horrible itchy, irritate blotchy rash. I would give it no stars if possible. I will never use it again.
